Saltwater Sea Trout Lures

Without question the best

Saltwater Sea Trout Lures

have to be the Zara Spook for top water and just about any brand of soft plastic lead head baits like the DOA and Storm brands.

For Top water the Zara Spook  Zara Spook saltwater sea trout lureshas been my confidence bait. On a calm morning or evening with the winds calm and the waters flat and smooth I have consistently caught Big saltwater sea trout on this lure. It does take some practice to get the walking the dog action down to produce the explosive strikes you are after but with some patience you will find the Zara Spook to be one of the best lures to have on hand.

To work the spook cast out, let the lure settle for a minute and then with your rod tip down to about 10 o clock in front of you twitch the rod up to 12 o clock  while slowing reeling in the line continue this motion to get the lure as high up on it’s tail as possible during the retrieve. It should dance back and forth on the surface.

You will find many trout will smack it out of the water so don’t get nervous just maintain the same retrieve and they will come back and get it.

The nice thing about the Zara Spook is that you will also find most all species of saltwater fish like it a lot such as Redfish, Snook, Lady Fish, Tarpon and Jack’s all of which I have caught on the spook.

As far as Saltwater Sea Trout Lures for below surface action the new soft plastics do very well and are a great way to locate fish while slow trolling or walking the flats.

The DOA brand came out a few years ago and has become a standard for producing great catches.

These soft plastic baits are very easy fish. They only require casting them out and then either simply reeling them straight back in or casting them out and working them with a jigging up and down motion. They are a great trolling bait as well for locating fish. Once you have hooked up one or two Sea Trout in a given area stop and fish the surrounding waters for more Sea Trout. cast both into shallow and deeper water to find them.

No matter which sea trout lures you use be sure to not force the fish they have very tender mouths and you will literally tear a hole in there lips so be gentle when fighting them in.

Also be aware of any seasons or catch regulations for Sea Trout in your local area.

As always have fun and enjoy the time on the water as there never seems to be enough of it.
