- Little Sister Sedge Comments:
- Hydropsychidae family is the most widespread and important to both the trout and the flyfisher. Trout feed on all life stages regularly and heavily. The cheumotopsyche genus which includes the species harwoodi, campyla and pettiti are generally imitated by Brownish wing, Green body flies. The early season flies are darker in color and get progressively lighter color as the weather warms.
Use an olive-brown larval pattern dead drift.
Pupal- Cutting free from the cocoon, the hydropsyche emergers drift but briefly with bottom currents. They swim quickly to the underside of the meniscus where they drift for extended periods while struggling free of the pupal sheath. This drift provides a huge and easy feeding opportunity for the trout. The Brown and Green Emergent Sparkle Pupa was made for this activity.
Adults can be imitated by the Diving Caddis and the Dancing Caddis.
